That number is what is referred to as a badge on an iPhone app and can
be used to indicate many things depdendent on the app in question. For example in the Appstore app it indicates the number of Apps with updates available.
In our app the badge is used to indicate the amount of your daily allowance you have left for quick and easy reference, if you wish to turn this off please go to More and choose 'Application settings' (Located on the left menu on the iPad)
You can then turn it on or off
Then be sure to hit save
